A all-city player from the Baltimore high school leagues, Tom Heyman's career at Georgetown was a short one. Heyman played in only six games before being suspended for academics at the Christmas break, and he did not return.

After Georgetown, Heyman served in the U.S. Army and completed his education at the University of Baltimore. His 2005 obituary noted that he worked in casket sales for two Baltimore-based companies.
